At Smith Lake Resort, we pride ourselves on providing clean, comfortable cabins that are well-equipped for your stay. All of our cabins have 2 bedrooms plus one or two sofa sleeper couches for additional sleeping space. Each cabin has a fully equipped kitchen (pots, pans, dishes) which includes a microwave, toaster, and coffee maker. Cabins have a private bathroom and shower with unlimited on-demand soft hot running water for that relaxing shower! Bed linens are provided, but bring your own towels. You'll find each cabin has air conditioning and a TV with limited UHF channels as you'll be spending most of your time outside. Portable VHS player/ movies available to rent. Our cabins are nestled under huge trees with lovely views of the lake and close proximity to the beach. Outside, each cabin has a cement patio, charcoal grill, fire pit, and picnic table. Please note: you are not permitted to bring your own firewood per the Department of Natural Resources, however, we have ample firewood for sale at $10 per wheelbarrow or by the truckload for large groups. We also have an on-site laundry facility for your convenience. Once you are here you won't have to leave!

When are you open?
We are open from May 1 to Oct 4 for the upcoming 2021 season.
Do I need to place a deposit to reserve my cabin?
Yes, a $200 deposit is required with each cabin reservation and needs to be received within 10 days of booking. The deposit will be applied to your total bill. Please make checks payable to Smith Lake Resort and mail to 3189 Smith Lake RD SE, Osakis, MN 56360. Credit card payment is also available.
What is your cancellation policy?
*** Due to the uncertainty surrounding the current Coronavirus situation, our normal cancellation period is being reduced from 60 days to 30 days to allow for our guests to make decisions closer in. If you know for sure that you will not be able to honor your reservation please give us as much time as possible to rebook your cabin. If you have questions please reach out to us directly via phone or text - 612.309.9086.
A full refund will be issued if your trip is cancelled 60 days or more in advance of your arrival. We will also issue a refund if your trip is cancelled within 60 days of your visit and the cabin is re-booked for the same length of stay and the same rate.
Do you charge extra for dock space for my boat?
Dock space is included in the price of each cabin. Docks are conveniently located just a few steps from your cabin amd always within view.
Do you charge extra for more than 2-4 guests?
Cabin rates are flat rates. We don't' care if you have 2 people or 10 in the cabin...same affordable flat rate.
Are cabins available for a weekend getaway?
Yes of course but we do require a 2 night minimum stay. Weekend stays are available in May and again in mid-August through September. Please contact us with your dates. Daily rates range from $79-250 depending on cabin size and dates.
Do you have off-peak rates?
Yes! During our slower time of the year we have great prices for your weekly stay. Off peak is defined as May 1 - 27 and from August 16 to October 4. Weekly rates for this period are Standard Cabin $650, Deluxe Cabin $750, Deluxe Plus Cabin $900.
Does Smith Lake Resort allow pets on the property?
Dogs and other pets are not allowed at the resort, this policy extends to any guests or visitors you may have at Smith Lake Resort. If you like to have your pet close by, we recommend lodging them at Pawsitively Perfect Pet Boarding, a pet boarding facility 10 minutes from the resort. Their daily rate is very reasonable and you can visit your pet as often as you like. Contact them at (218) 943-7297.
Can we rent a fishing boat or pontoon even though we are not staying at the resort?
Of course you can - Smith Lake Resort is open to the community as well as our resort guests. Call or message the resort for pricing and availability.
Can we bring our own firewood?
The DNR does not want wood transferred around the state due to the potential for disease to be spread so the simple answer is no. The good news is that we have plenty of split dry wood at a very reasonable price.
Is the General Store/ Lodge open to the public?
Yes, we invite everyone from the community to stop by for bait, ice, a cold beer or a treat for the kids. You can even pull up in front of the resort on your boat as we have a special dock just for our non-resort guests...everyone is welcome!
Do you sell fishing licenses?
Unfortunately, we do not but they are available in nearby Osakis which is only 5 minutes from the resort.
