Smith Lake Resort originally opened in 1955 as Ellis Resort. The resort has been in continuous operation for 64 years and is one of the few mom and pop resorts in Minnesota that has not only survived but thrived over the years. Most guests return year after year, along with their extended families, to relive old memories and create new ones. Smith Lake Resort is under new ownership as of April 2017 when Jeff Pantze purchased the property. Jeff grew up in Alexandria and has spent the past 17 years as Executive Vice President of a consulting firm in the Twin Cities. With a passion for the great outdoors, fishing, water sports and Minnesota in general, Jeff is excited for this new adventure and hopes to carry on some of the long-standing traditions of Smith Lake Resort. Over the next 2-3 years you will see the cabins remodeled, the beach brought to life, the lodge reopened and the charm brought back. Smith Lake will once again become a destination for families, for couples, and for fishing buddies to gather and tell stories. We hope you enjoy your stay!
The Lodge is Smith Lake Resort's social gathering place where all are welcome. The lodge is a general store, bar, and bait shop all in one. You can swing by for a beer or a glass of wine and get something hot to eat - pizza, wings, chicken strips, etc... We also have a pool table, pinball machine, board games, and movie rentals for rainy days. We carry a full line of bait - minnows, leeches, and crawlers. The on-site convenience store is stocked with basic grocery items including charcoal, firewood, ice, water, pop, ice cream and other treats to satisfy your sweet tooth! The Lodge is also the gathering place during holiday weekends for kids and adult tournaments that include pool, fishing, pinball and bags! We welcome everyone from the community so stop by and say hi!
